Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill easing back to full fitness
Jasprit Bumrah will gradually increase his bowling workload after an impact injury during the ODI series in England.
Shubman Gill has sought help from specialists outside the BCCI for his chronic neck problem.
Bumrah developed swelling in his knee before the final ODI at Lord’s on June 19 but is expected to be ready for the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
The selectors picked Bumrah for the Sri Lanka tour subject to fitness, with focus on preparing him for Test cricket after limited longer-format play.
Gill’s neck pain first flared during the first Test against South Africa at Eden Gardens and ruled him out of the rest of that series.
