Karnataka launches year-long drive to train 65,000 teachers for bilingual classrooms

Karnataka Directorate of State Educational Research and Training (DSERT) and Regional Institute of English, South India (RIESI) launched a year-long initiative to support bilingual teaching in government schools.

The programme will train nearly 65,000 teachers through workshops, mentoring, and continuous academic support from July 2026 to March 2027.

Training begins with 389 District Resource Team members who will then train Master Resource Persons, who will conduct cluster-level workshops for teachers.

The initiative aims to strengthen bilingual education by equipping teachers with classroom strategies, textbook-based pedagogy, and strategies for difficult learning areas.
