Who is Roger Rogoff? Trump-fired US attorney sues after removal in 54 minutes

Roger Rogoff was selected by U.S. District Court judges to serve as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Washington and was fired by the Trump administration 54 minutes after taking the oath.

Rogoff filed a lawsuit arguing that federal law allows a court-appointed U.S. attorney to remain until a Senate-confirmed successor is in place, and his removal violated that law.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the firing, stating the President has authority to remove U.S. attorneys and that the district court did not coordinate with the Justice Department.

Rogoff is a former prosecutor and King County Superior Court judge with decades of legal experience.
