India's medical tourism market is projected to grow from $8.7 billion in 2025 to $16.2 billion by 2030, according to the Economic Survey 2025–26.

India ranks 10th among 46 medical tourism destinations globally, per the Medical Tourism Index 2020–21.

Services sought include cardiac surgery, joint replacements, cancer treatment, fertility care, organ transplants, dental and cosmetic procedures.

The Union Budget 2026–27 proposes five Regional Medical Hubs combining medical, education, and tourism facilities.

Private hospital chains plan to expand capacity from ~70,000 beds to over 108,000 by 2030.
