Yami Gautam revealed she nearly quit acting before landing Uri: The Surgical Strike, due to limited meaningful roles after her debut in Vicky Donor.

She said she had made peace with leaving the industry and planned to return to Himachal Pradesh, but then Uri and Bala happened, changing her career.

Gautam criticized favouritism in Bollywood, noting that star kids get repeated chances while outsiders must constantly prove themselves.

Uri: The Surgical Strike, directed by Aditya Dhar, and Bala, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, were both released in 2019 and were commercial successes.
