Maharashtra Rains: Jalgaon Hit Worst By Intense Showers; Orange Alert For Nashik & Pune Ghats

  1. The IMD has placed Nashik and Pune ghat regions under an Orange Alert and Sindhudurg, Satara, Kolhapur, Nandurbar, Wardha, and Chandrapur under a Yellow Alert for intense rainfall over the next few days.

  2. A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has intensified monsoon activity across Maharashtra, triggering flooding and rising river levels.

  3. Jalgaon district has been hit worst, recording 104 mm rainfall, with Jalgaon city receiving 118 mm; all 14 talukas except Chalisgaon reported heavy rainfall.

  4. The Tapi River has flooded, leading to the opening of all 41 gates of Hatnur Dam; Girna Dam reached 100% capacity and six gates were opened, and the Aner River saw its biggest flood in two years with all 10 gates of Aner Dam opened.

  5. Mumbai has no rain alert for the weekend, but cloudy skies and moderate rainfall with gusty winds up to 50-60 kmph are expected.
