Three of Delhi family suffer snakebites, two succumb

  1. A 41-year-old woman, Shafika Pravin, alias Sakina, and her 13-year-old daughter, Aafiya, died after reported snakebites at their home in Triveni Colony, Bakhtawarpur, Delhi.

  2. The woman's 18-year-old son, Fayaz, was also injured in the attack and was admitted to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra (SRHC) Hospital, Narela.

  3. The first bite occurred around 4 am when the family was sleeping; the woman raised an alarm, and a black snake was seen in the room.

  4. Aafiya was referred to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar (BSA) Hospital, Rohini, but succumbed within three hours of her mother's death.

  5. Police are treating the deaths as accidental and have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
