Supertech twin towers: SC defers hearing on plea seeking refund for homebuyers

in5points
The Supreme Court deferred hearing on a plea seeking refund for homebuyers of Supertech's razed twin towers in Noida by three months.
A bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant noted efforts were ongoing to satisfy claims of homebuyers who did not opt for alternative allotment.
A lawyer for some homebuyers stated that the last refund payment was made in 2024 and they are not receiving further refunds.
The court had previously ordered refunds on a pro-rata basis from deposits by the Interim Resolution Professional, as Supertech faces insolvency.
The twin towers at Emerald Court Project were demolished on August 28, 2022, after the Supreme Court ordered their removal for building norm violations.
