SIR push: Govt to distribute 4.8cr free caste certificates

  1. The Karnataka government will distribute over 4.8 crore free caste certificates to support residents in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

  2. Revenue commissioner Meena Nagaraj CN issued a circular directing deputy commissioners to expedite the distribution, with certificates to be printed and distributed at district, taluk, and village levels.

  3. The cabinet approved free distribution, and certificate download links will be sent via SMS and WhatsApp to mobile numbers in official records.

  4. A mobile application will record deliveries, with beneficiaries acknowledged via mobile or Aadhaar number.

  5. The cabinet also approved a permanent residence certificate service, with deputy commissioners directed to issue on priority.
