Soon, get MRI, CT scans at govt hospitals in Punjab

  1. Punjab health department will install MRI, CT scan and radio-diagnostic equipment in all 23 district hospitals and selected sub-divisional hospitals via public-private partnership.

  2. The initiative aims to fill the gap in advanced imaging facilities at government hospitals, reducing patient travel and expensive private lab fees.

  3. Health minister Dr Balbir Singh confirmed new MRI machines are being installed, especially near highways, to provide life-saving scans during the Golden Hour for accident victims.

  4. Services will be provided at subsidised rates with the government reimbursing the private agency the remaining amount.

  5. The move addresses an acute shortage of radiologists in the public sector by engaging private operators.
