Ramlila body asks 'Ramayana' makers to hold special screening before release, warns of protests
Shri Ramlila Mahasangh has asked makers of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Ramayana' for a special preview screening before its release, warning of protests if the request is denied.
The organization, in a letter to director Nitesh Tiwari and the production company, cited concerns that the film may contain scenes hurting Hindu sentiments, referencing the 2023 Adipurush controversy.
Shri Ramlila Mahasangh president Arjun Kumar specifically mentioned objections to Adipurush over depictions like Lanka in black instead of gold and Ravana's portrayal.
The Ramayana trailer, which features Yash as Ravana, was released during Brahma Muhurat, and the film is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release.
If the preview is not held, the Mahasangh warns it will stage protests and demonstrations outside cinema halls in Delhi and other states.
