New ISL-supported English initiative focuses on literacy and employment readiness for Deaf learners

The initiative uses visual-first teaching methods and Indian Sign Language (ISL) to teach English to Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners.

The programme includes partnerships with schools (C.R. Rangnathan and the Sheila Kothavala Institute) and teacher training to develop classroom content.

More than 500 learners have completed the programme, which aims to improve literacy and workplace communication.

The initiative seeks to improve employment opportunities through industry collaborations and workplace communication modules.
