July FPI inflows touch Rs 42,000 crore, top February record

  1. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turned net buyers in Indian equities in July, breaking a four-month streak of heavy outflows.

  2. Net FPI equity inflows were nearly $1.6 billion (Rs 14,946 crore) till July 24, reversing sustained selling from March to June.

  3. Total FPI inflows across asset classes reached nearly $4.4 billion (Rs 41,796 crore) in July, the strongest month in 2026 surpassing February's $4.2 billion.

  4. July inflows were largely driven by primary market activity, including participation in the SBI Funds IPO, and sustained debt buying after taxation changes.

  5. Year-to-date equity outflows remain at $27.7 billion, and total FPI flows across asset classes are still negative at $18.4 billion for 2026.
