UK singer Boy George pulls out of musical after pro-Israel song backlash

Boy George pulled out of the West End musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' at the London Palladium after backlash over his pro-Israel song 'We Will Dance Again'.

His manager Paul Kemsley announced on social media that the 65-year-old singer will no longer appear in the production, where he was set to play King Herod from August 3-15.

The song, created using AI, includes lyrics like 'you say genocide, I say war' and was inspired by the Nova exhibition in London commemorating victims of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack.

Kemsley said George has always stood by his convictions and felt it was right to step aside to allow the production to remain the focus.

'Jesus Christ Superstar' opened on Friday and runs until September 5; George's band Culture Club is scheduled for a UK tour in December.
