Government objects to China illegally occupying Indian territory
India said it has been consistent in not violating China's sovereignty, but China continues to illegally occupy Indian territory in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh since 1963.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India objects to Chinese projects on territories in Jammu & Kashmir that belong to India, alluding to projects in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Manila on the sidelines of ASEAN, stressing the need to address bilateral trade imbalance, fair market access, and supply chain reliability.
Jaishankar underlined that border peace and tranquillity remain a prerequisite for normalization of bilateral ties between India and China.
