Texas lab finds no narcotics in Lorenzo Salgado's van

Laboratory testing found that the substance recovered from Lorenzo Salgado Araujo's van was not a narcotic or any other illicit substance, according to US Rep. Sylvia Garcia and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

The FBI is leading the federal probe into the July 7 shooting of Salgado by an ICE agent in Houston.

Rep. Sylvia Garcia stated the substance was an electrolyte supplement used for hydration while working outdoors.

Attorney Ruby Powers said the family was informed that the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the preliminary findings.

The family continues to call for an independent investigation into the shooting and release of Salgado's brother Victor from ICE custody.
