Four individuals posing as Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials extorted ₹6 lakh from a Vasai sweet shop owner.

The accused threatened to seal the shop over alleged food adulteration to force the payment.

Two accused, Vijay Jadhav and Swati Tulsakar, have a prior case in Borivali for the same modus operandi against a hotelier.

Police suspect the group is part of a larger organized impersonation racket targeting businesses during real FDA crackdowns.

All four accused are absconding; police are investigating the case under fraud and extortion laws.
