Bruce GoFundMe: California couple demands accountability after beloved English bulldog drowns at doggy daycare

Chris and Ashley Merz of Ventura, California lost their English bulldog Bruce, who drowned at Camp Canine doggy daycare.

The Merzes were not notified of Bruce's death and were shown his body in a plastic tub when they arrived to pick him up.

Bruce was allegedly placed in the large-dog yard with unfenced pools, despite employees acknowledging he should not have been there.

A GoFundMe has been launched to cover cremation, memorial costs, and legal counsel.

A peaceful protest honoring Bruce is scheduled for July 22, 2026 outside Camp Canine to demand accountability.
