Ophthalmologist warns against reading in bed

in5points
Lying down to read strains eye muscles at an unnatural angle, causing headaches, blurred vision, and stinging, according to Dr Himanshu Mehta, senior ophthalmologist at ASG The Vission Eye Centre.
Reading while lying in bed makes it hard to maintain the ideal reading distance of 15 inches, forcing eye muscles to work harder and potentially increasing eye pressure temporarily.
People with glaucoma or conditions sensitive to eye pressure fluctuations should avoid reading lying down.
Other harmful habits include reading in moving vehicles, which can cause nausea and eye strain.
