Cops using digital tracking to deter protestors, showing up their homes

Mumbai police are digitally tracking student protestors, demanding live locations and visiting homes to deter them from joining Cockroach Janta Party-led protests.

Over 400 protestors were detained on Wednesday, with police using data from past detentions to identify and pressure individuals.

Lawyers allege digital surveillance violates the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Information Technology Act (IT Act), as well as fundamental rights.

Around 2,500 protestors gathered at Shivaji Park, Chembur, Juhu, Colaba, and Powai on day five of the agitation.
