Never expected a National Film Award: Roopashree

Mangaluru-based actress Roopashree Varkady won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the Kannada film 'Mithya'.

Roopashree has over 25 years of theatre experience, with more than 4,000 performances in over 700 plays in Kannada and Tulu.

She entered professional theatre through veteran director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail's play 'Samsara Da Circus' and trained under Christopher Ninasam and Viddu Uchchil Rangayana.

Child actor Athish S Shetty also won a National Award for the same film, calling it the fulfillment of his biggest dream.

Director Sumanth Bhat acknowledged support from actor Rakshit Shetty in bringing 'Mithya' to fruition.
