Sightseeing trip ends in 60-foot plunge; tree saves driver’s life

year-old Mohit Bhatnagar's Skoda rolled down a rain-soaked hillside near Garmal village in Raigad's Khalapur taluka, plunging 60 feet before hitting a tree.

The tree halted the vehicle's descent, preventing it from falling further into the gorge and saving Bhatnagar's life.

Bhatnagar had driven to the spot to view the Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link Valley Bridge and allegedly went onto an unpaved mud track.

Borghat Highway Police officers Sandeep Pawar, Kiran Shinde, Bharat Pawara, Ganesh Khade, and driver Santosh Gujarwar rescued him from the wrecked car.

Bhatnagar was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is out of danger.
