STF jawan named in Bharat Tiwari killing held by Bihar police

Bihar Police arrested STF jawan Akshay Kumar for the killing of activist Bharat Bhushan Tiwari during an encounter in Bhojpur’s Bilauti village on June 17.
Akshay Kumar was booked under Sections 103(1) and 3(8) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 27 of the Arms Act.
The arrest followed Tiwari’s family meeting Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary, who promised that culprits would be arrested.
Tiwari’s brother Chandan Tiwari alleges that Akshay Kumar was the first to fire, despite Bharat surrendering and throwing his gun.
The killing sparked public outrage and prompted the state government to order a judicial probe.
