Children with guns: 12-year-olds trained, armed to man Tehran checkpoints

Iranian state news outlets published images of children receiving firearms training at Tehran's Azadi Square.

The Islamic Republic is recruiting minors as young as 12 to man checkpoints and perform security duties during the war.

IRGC official Rahim Nadali announced the minimum age for war-support activities was lowered to 12.

Tehran residents reported armed, untrained youths at ad hoc checkpoints, with one describing teenagers holding Uzis and another saying teenagers with Kalashnikovs fire warning shots.

The recruitment drive, called 'For Iran,' aims to register people to support the Guards and Basij militia against the United States.
