3 convicted prisoners escape from Kalaburagi jail, one caught: Police

Three convicted prisoners escaped from Kalaburagi Central Prison between 4:00 and 4:30 AM by cutting iron bars in a washroom window and scaling the compound wall.
The escaped convicts were identified as Mastan (26), Santosh (28), and Sagar (29); Mastan and Santosh were convicted under the Pocso Act, and Sagar for murder.
Santosh was recaptured in Humnabad at around 6:30 PM after police set up a checkpoint and conducted vehicle inspections.
The prisoners used a ladder to climb the compound wall and a T-shirt and towel as a makeshift rope to descend, while construction work was underway inside the jail.
A statewide manhunt and probe into the security lapse were initiated, with multiple special teams formed to trace the remaining convicts.
