CMRS approves Pune Metro Line 3’s Maan-Balewadi section

Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) granted provisional authorisation for Pune Metro Line 3’s Maan-RK Laxman Museum (Balewadi) section on July 23, 2026.

The 12-station, approximately 13-km elevated double-track corridor can operate metro trains at a maximum speed of 80 kmph.

CMRS conducted detailed inspections from July 5 to July 8, verifying statutory approvals and technical certifications including DoT licence and fire NOCs.

Anil Kumar Saini, CEO of Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL), stated the approval reflects commitment to safety and engineering excellence.

The section is part of the Line connecting Hinjewadi IT Park to Shivajinagar, aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the Hinjewadi IT Park area.
