Normandy's D-Day World War Two beaches become UNESCO heritage site

UNESCO designated Normandy's D-Day beaches as a World Heritage site on September 8, 2024.

The beaches were where Allied forces landed on June 6, 1944, to fight Nazi troops and liberate France.

The designation recognizes the historical significance of the D-Day landings during World War II.
