EPFO auto refund: 1.18 lakh dormant PF accounts verified; no claim needed for balances up to ₹1,000

  1. Labour Ministry completed bank verification for 1.18 lakh dormant EPFO accounts under an auto-refund pilot for balances up to ₹1,000.

  2. The pilot covers 7.11 lakh inoperative EPFO accounts with total ₹30.52 crore unclaimed balances of ₹1,000 or less.

  3. Eligible subscribers will receive PF refunds automatically without filing a claim, credited directly to their bank accounts.

  4. C-DAC is upgrading EPFO's technology platform to enable automatic credit, including a system-generated claim feature.

  5. Auto-refund system expected to be ready by August-end
