Commuters on the edge as stray cattle dot Ludhiana roads

Stray cattle on Dugri Missing Link-2 and Dhandran Road in Ludhiana pose a safety hazard to commuters, with 8–10 cattle often seen at night.

The problem worsened after a flyover connecting Sangrur Road and Ferozepur Road opened in 2025, increasing vehicular traffic, according to Jatinder Pal Singh Saluja, president of the Missing Link-2 Market Association.

Residents urge authorities to shift cattle to gaushalas and conduct regular removal drives; councillor Usha Kalyan and MC Zone C commissioner Jagdev Singh Sekhon have pledged action.

Ludhiana recorded over 12,000 dog-bite cases in 2025 and more than 7,700 cases up to July 22, 2026, per infection control nurse Palwinder Kaur.

Residents call for strengthened stray animal management, including sterilisation and vaccination of stray dogs.
