Raj Thackeray alleged that Rs 18 crore was stolen annually from donations at Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple.
Thackeray also claimed Rs 1,400 crore was stolen at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, citing a letter by eight trustees.
Siddhivinayak Temple Trust chairman Sada Sarvankar said nine employees were arrested in connection with the alleged theft.
Sarvankar said the temple's annual income rose from Rs 114 crore to Rs 182 crore after measures were taken.
Thackeray alleged weekly donation collections increased from below Rs 50 lakh to about Rs 1.5 crore after the theft was uncovered.
