First puffin chick in 30 years emerged from Dancing Ledge on Dorset's Isle of Purbeck.
The chick was monitored for 15 weeks by National Trust volunteers and seabird expert Dr Richard Caldow.
The sighting gives new hope to England's last mainland south coast puffin colony, now reduced to three breeding pairs.
