Rajasthan govt revises blood donation guidelines, raises government share to 50%

Rajasthan government revised blood donation guidelines, raising government blood centres' collection share at voluntary donation camps from 20% to 50%.

Government blood centres will deploy medical teams to voluntary camps, complying with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and carrying necessary medical supplies.

For camps over 200 km from a blood centre, collection is permitted only in single blood bags to ensure quality and safe transport.

Principal secretary Gayatri Rathore said the change reduces need for replacement donations and improves blood availability, especially in emergencies.

Commissioner T. Shubhamangala directed medical officers, college principals, and CMHOs to ensure 50% collection; negligence will lead to accountability.
