Mumbai Airport Customs Arrests Two Women For Smuggling Hydroponic Weed From Bangkok

Mumbai Airport Customs arrested Iswarya Selvaraj (29) and Zuwairiya Rahman (29), both from Tamil Nadu, for smuggling hydroponic weed from Bangkok.

The drugs were concealed in plastic packets beneath the inner lining of their trolley bags; 1960 grams of hydroponic weed was seized.

The arrests were based on specific intelligence by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at CSMI Airport.

The accused admitted they knew smuggling cannabis into India carries stringent punishment but agreed to carry it for monetary gain.

Customs stated the investigation is preliminary and aims to identify other persons involved, including the source, supplier, and intended recipient.
