FIR over fake websites offering Tata EV dealership

  1. MRA Marg police filed an FIR against five men for operating fake websites offering dealerships for Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEML) electric vehicles.

  2. Fraudsters charged hefty fees toward processing dealership applications and launched new websites at least three times after previous ones were blocked.

  3. The FIR, based on a complaint by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility senior manager Prashant Murali, names Keshab Kumar, Akash Bansal, Kunal Singh, Raju Manaskar, and unknown others under BNS sections 318, 319, 336, 338, and 340.

  4. A fake website, www.tataevdealership.com, was first reported on April 16, 2025, promising vehicle dealerships; Tata sent legal notices and got it blocked via Go Daddy.

  5. Despite earlier takedowns, fraudsters launched new sites offering dealerships in India, Australia, Canada, UK, and US, and a victim was asked to pay ₹5.5 lakh as an application fee in February 2026.
