Maharashtra To Roll Out Comprehensive Ambulance Policy With Digital Tracking, Transparent Fares And GPS

Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced a State Ambulance Policy to digitalize ambulance tracking, ensuring real-time location, availability, response time, and service quality monitoring.

The policy introduces transparent fare regulation with maximum fares based on AIS-125 classifications and e-receipts to curb overcharging.

Four digital platforms will connect citizens, drivers, onboard medical tablets, and authorities, allowing citizens to locate ambulances, track arrivals, and view fares before booking.

Maharashtra has 1,076 MEMS 108 ambulances and an estimated 4,500-5,000 private/NGO ambulances currently without a unified tracking or fare system.

The policy includes a first-aid guidance module and better hospital coordination, with finalization expected in the coming months.
