Three women wounded in Paris knife attack; off-duty policeman catches suspect

Three women aged 19, 24, and 36 were stabbed with kitchen knives in the Porte de Clichy area of Paris at around 11:30 am on July 27, 2026.

An off-duty policeman and bystanders detained the suspect after a young man hit him with a small suitcase and a waiter put a chair on him.

Two victims sustained serious wounds and were in critical condition; one of the three women was pregnant.

Interior minister Laurent Nunez said the suspect made incoherent statements, but his identity and motive were not immediately clear.

A Snapchat video verified by Reuters showed the suspect carrying two large knives and attempting to stab a young woman.
