Samara Weaving lands Emma Frost role in 'X-Men.'

Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost in Marvel Studios' upcoming 'X-Men' reboot directed by Jake Schreier.

Weaving won the role after an extensive audition process that concluded earlier this week, with the final list of actors tested compiled after July 4th.

Emma Frost is a telepathic mutant who first appeared in X-Men comics in the 1980s and transitioned from supervillain to X-Men member; she was last portrayed in 2011's 'X-Men: First Class'.

The new 'X-Men' project follows Marvel's 2019 acquisition of the studio that controlled the mutant property, which included seven films and a successful spinoff franchise.

Screenwriters Lee Sung Jin, creator of 'Beef', and Joanna Calo, co-creator of 'The Bear', are penning the script for the film.
