Sunny Leone revealed in her biographical web series 'Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone' that her parents were heartbroken when they learned she joined the adult film industry.

She told her parents she was named Penthouse Pet of the Year and won $100,000, but her mother broke down in tears and asked if she had posed nude, also questioning her stage name 'Leone'.

Her father was upset she didn't discuss the decision, but advised her to accept responsibility and work hard, though he never approved.

Financial independence drove her choice: she could earn $10,000–$15,000 a week, more than other available jobs.

Despite family facing criticism and relatives distancing themselves, she never regretted her decision and built a successful career in Bollywood, debuting with 'Jism 2' in 2012.
