Student jumps from 3rd-floor PG to escape Karol Bagh fire

A 22-year-old student, Vipra Arya, fractured her hip after jumping from the third floor of a PG in Karol Bagh, Delhi, to escape a fire on July 23, 2026.

Another student, Namrata Yadav, aged 19, escaped by climbing onto an adjoining building's terrace.

The fire started on the first floor of the four-storey building in Channa Market and spread to the second floor; the building housed a leather footwear unit and PG.

Delhi Fire Services received the call at 10:58 am, deployed 14 fire tenders, and controlled the blaze by 12:30 pm.

A case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered to investigate the fire's cause and alleged illegal commercial use of the residential building.
