Narrow escape for residents as soil collapse from construction site cracks Sion housing society

A soil collapse from Raymond Realty's construction site in Wadala East caused cracks near the foundation of Parivar Cooperative Housing Society in Sion's Pratiksha Nagar.

The collapse occurred on July 15, 2026, from a heap of excavated earth at the redevelopment project.

Officials from SRA, Mhada, contractor BG Shirke, and Raymond Realty visited to assess damage; society secretary Sunil Dudhale reported cracks in the ground under the D-wing and a collapsed iron shed.

Raymond Realty stated only minor rectification was needed and suggested cracks in the parking area might be pre-existing due to the building's age.

No injuries were reported, but residents raised concerns over structural safety.
