Panchkula: MACT awards ₹12L relief to family of road accident victim

MACT Panchkula awarded ₹11.9 lakh compensation plus 7.5% annual interest to the family of Suresh Kumar, who died after being hit by a Tata goods carrier in Bathinda.

The accident occurred on November 27, 2024, outside Royal Plaza Palace in Goniana Mandi, Bathinda, while Kumar was attending his nephew's wedding.

The tribunal rejected the insurance company's objections about delayed FIR, citing satisfactory explanation for the delay.

The driver and owner were found negligent as they failed to rebut the claimants' evidence of rash driving.

Compensation covers loss of dependency, consortium, medical expenses, funeral expenses, and loss of estate, distributed among the widow (40%) and three children (20% each).
