Govt restores WPI linking factor; toll rates on national highways rise marginally
in5points
Toll charges on National Highways and expressways have increased marginally (2-5%) for commercial and heavy vehicles after the Delhi High Court restored the use of a linking factor for WPI series.
The road transport ministry had previously used an older WPI linking factor (2004-05 base) from September 2025, reducing toll charges, but the Delhi High Court ruled in favor of highway operators.
The ministry complied with the court order on June 29, 2026, reinstating the 2011-12 linking factor, which restored the April 2025 toll hike and revised rates from April 2026.
