MCC to give more emphasis for waste segregation

Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has appealed to all apartments in Mangaluru to segregate dry and wet waste at source.

MCC commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey said a meeting on waste management with pourakarmikas and outsourced employees will be held on Tuesday to discuss issues and reforms.

Bulk waste generators must process wet waste into manure; others can hand over segregated waste to MCC.

A company manages wet waste using black soldier fly technology, but segregation has been a major issue.

The state has published the Model Bylaw 2026 for waste management; MCC will implement it once finalized by the government.
