Susan Gehrke GoFundMe: Tucson grandmother who survived cancer twice dies after attack by felon, ‘A beacon of light’

Susan Gehrke, 61, a Tucson grandmother who survived cancer twice, died after an alleged attack by a felon on July 24 at an apartment complex.

Dahseir Edward Jefferson, 27, was arrested on July 28 and charged with aggravated assault, later amended to second-degree murder after Gehrke's death.

Jefferson allegedly punched Gehrke, causing her to fall and hit her head; he had prior convictions for aggravated assault and burglary.

Gehrke's family launched a GoFundMe to support funeral expenses and described her as 'a beacon of light'.
