Fernando Alonso links his F1 future to making the cars enjoyable to drive again

Fernando Alonso said his future in Formula 1 could depend on whether cars become more enjoyable to drive.

Alonso and Aston Martin have struggled with a slow and unreliable car designed by Adrian Newey, scoring only one point this season at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Alonso, who turns 45 next week, has a contract with Aston Martin for 2027 and is not moving, but is thinking about his future.

Alonso criticized the last two races in Britain and Belgium for battery power issues on straights, calling it not fun to drive or watch.

Aston Martin is bringing a major upgrade package for the Hungarian Grand Prix, with a Honda engine upgrade expected later.
