Bhatsa Dam Reaches 100% Capacity, Five Spillway Gates Opened After Jal Pujan In Thane District

Bhatsa Dam in Thane district, the largest reservoir for Mumbai, Thane and Bhiwandi, reached 100% live storage capacity after consistent monsoon rainfall.

After a traditional Jal Pujan ceremony, authorities opened five spillway gates releasing water at a discharge rate of 3,064 cusecs.

The reservoir filling has eased concerns over drinking water availability for Mumbai, Thane and Bhiwandi for the coming months.

The district administration issued an advisory urging residents along riverbanks downstream to remain vigilant as water levels are expected to rise.
