Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde Backs Deputy Mayors Demand For Official Bungalow, BMC Officials Cite Legal Hurdle

Mayor Ritu Tawde has backed Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi's demand for a civic bungalow.

The bungalow is within Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan premises in Byculla, belonging to the Hydraulic Engineer's Department.

Ghadi, an Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena corporator, cited his long commute from Dahisar.

Senior BMC officials said the request is unlikely to be approved because the Deputy Mayor post lacks statutory status for such privileges.

The Mayor has an official residence under the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, but the Deputy Mayor is only entitled to an office, vehicle, and staff.
