Last Modi-era minister resigned in 2018: MJ Akbar

Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned in July 2026 after Cockroach Janta Party-led protests against alleged NEET paper leaks.

Pradhan said he took full responsibility for the NEET paper leak, citing obstacles from some individuals and aiming to protect students' futures.

The previous Union minister resignation under Modi due to protests was MJ Akbar in 2018, during the #MeToo movement.

Opposition has long accused the Modi government of refusing to accept resignations, citing Rajnath Singh's 2015 statement that resignations don't happen in the NDA.
