CWG 2026: Mirabai Chanu leads Manipur’s five-pronged medal charge in weightlifting

Mirabai Chanu aims for a third consecutive Commonwealth Games title in the women's 48kg category at CWG 2026 in Glasgow.

Five weightlifters from Manipur represent India, including Chanu, Nirupama Devi, and Martina Devi.

Veteran coach S Brojendro Singh, who trained all five athletes at the state sports academy since 2004, credits Chanu for inspiring a generation in Manipur.

Nirupama Devi, silver medallist at the 2025 Commonwealth Championships, makes her CWG debut in the women's 63kg category.
