Dissent is fine, but should stay within constitutional limits: Author Amish on Gen Z protests

Author Amish Tripathi said dissent should stay within constitutional limits as envisioned by Dr B R Ambedkar.

Tripathi noted Gen Z protests are similar to previous generations' protests, including the Naxalite movement, Mandal agitation, and anti-corruption movement of 2011-12.

He said young people have every right to protest but should pursue change through constitutional means.

Tripathi called for decolonising the teaching of Indian history, saying school textbooks still carry colonial-era biases.

His new children's book 'Dhruv - Tara: The Great Indian History Quiz' presents history from a decolonised perspective.
